The story follows Lydia Deetz, a whip-smart, strange, and unusual teenager who is grieving the loss of her mother and struggling to feel connected to the world around her. When Lydia and her father move into a new home, she quickly discovers that the house is haunted by a recently deceased couple, the Maitlands, as well as Beetlejuice — a delightfully devious demon with a mischievous sense of humor and one desperate wish: to be seen by the living.

Hoping to scare away her new living relatives, Lydia turns to Beetlejuice for help. But when she agrees to say his name three times, she unknowingly opens the door to his chaotic plans. The Eight: Reindeer Monologues was developed at the Hidden Theatre and Dolphinback Theatre Company in Chicago, Illinois.
